Blast Assessments for industrial estates: Ensuring staff are protected

An international data centre client had gone through two rounds of mergers and acquisitions within a two-year time period. These led to difficulties in determining which sets of standards would be adhered to during the ongoing construction of their new London data centres. In the midst of helping to determine the minimum standards that one data centre’s security systems needed to comply with, two potential explosion threats were found near the site. The first was a 5,000L propane tank located just 30m from the data centre’s main entrance, and the second was a large electrical power transformer positioned adjacent to the data centre’s main pedestrian walkway.
